There is a wealth of things to do in this lovely area. If you're keen to bag a Munro, nearby is Ben Cruachan, the highest point in Argyll and Bute and a glorious mountain in its own right.

 

Within a 5-minute drive are the walking trails of Glen Nant National Nature Reserve which offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. There are also many other walking routes in the vicinity.

 

You can go kayaking on lovely Loch Etive with Tony of Sea Freedom Kayak.  Or go mountain biking on the wonderful trails in the area. One of our favourite wilderness bike routes is down from Victoria Bridge (on the West Highland Way to Glencoe) through Glen Kinglass to Loch Etive and down to Taynuilt; this is only for the experienced rider in summer as it is very remote and long.  Quality hybrid and moutain bikes are available for hire from Oban Cycles in Oban run by Mark and Christina who can also give you tips on local bike routes.

 

Go fishing for salmon and trout at Inverawe or visit their smokery, or go on a wildlife photography workshop to capture the local fauna on film.

 

Learn about the historic iron furnace in Bonawe. Or when it's too rainy to stay outside, go on a guided tour of the power station inside Ben Cruachan.

 

Taynuilt holds its own Highland Games in July each year;  in 2022 it's on 23rd July.

 

There is a wonderful village pub and restaurant five miles up Glen Nant from us, the Kilchrenan Inn, who serve fabulous food.
